U.S. FIGURE SKATING ASPIRE PROGRAM

The Aspire Edge program at the Berger Foundation Iceplex helps beginning figure skaters make the transition from learn to skate group classes into U.S. Figure Skating. A safe, supportive group training environment keeps costs down and motivation high as skaters acquire new skills, develop good practice habits and learn the fundamentals of training alongside their peers.

Pre-Free Skate

Pre-Free Skate is comprised of a variety of progressive skating skills, transitions, including an introduction to spins and jumps.

  • Artistry in Motion – Skaters will learn the basic principles and philosophy of choreography, presentation, and performance to integrate into their own skating with the use of fun music, props, and costumes.

Free Skate 1 & 2

Saturday’s

 Each free skate level is comprised of a variety of progressive skating skills, transitions, spins, and jumps – all of which build on the previous skill, providing skaters a strong foundation of all elements.  Free Skate 1 & 2 is combined class focusing on the skills found in Learn to Skate USA’s Free Skate 1 and Free Skate 2 levels.

Free Skate 3 & 4

Saturday’s

Each free skate level is comprised of a variety of progressive skating skills, transitions, spins, and jumps – all of which build on the previous skill, providing skaters a strong foundation of all elements. Free Skate 3 & 4 is combined class focusing on the skills found in Learn to Skate USA’s Free Skate 3 and Free Skate 4 levels.

EDGE CLASS

Saturday’s

Open to all ages. Learn better edge control and balance though a variety of movement. Focusing on proper body positions, inside edges, outside edges, glide and stability, dynamic turns, and power. Open to skaters in Basic 4 or equivalent and above.

The Berger Foundation Iceplex is proud to be the home ice for The Desert Figure Skating Club. The mission of The Desert Figure Skating Club (TDFSC) is to support and develop amateur athletes for national and international figure skating competition. The Desert Figure Skating Club was formed as a qualified amateur sports organization, is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN: 68-0491343) and has been awarded the GuideStar Bronze Seal of Transparency.
